Well, she's gone...her father and Uncle Roger have taken her to the airport. Eighteen months before we see her again, except in photos that she sends. I'm already looking forward to those photos.
Elizabeth is serving an eighteen month mission for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We've never had a daughter serve. Elizabeth will be working in the Maryland, Baltimore Mission. While there she will spend every day meeting people to whom she will teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Elizabeth will be involved in charitable service, helping members of the church and others with what they need.
There will be wonderful days, and there will be discouraging days.
There will be tremendous growth and understanding of herself, of other people, of life, and of God's all encompassing love for His children.
Elizabeth has known for a year that Heavenly Father wanted her to be His missionary.
Her Dad knew that she would be called to this mission.
Her Mother is grateful that she will find other people, just like her Mother was, who are stumbling in the dark, looking for truth and light.
Please keep Elizabeth in your prayers. We love her very much and are grateful that she is in Heavenly Father's care.

My mission president always said, "The Elders need their missions, but the missions need the sisters." Those folks back there in Baltimore are going to be so blessed to have Elizabeth in their midst. And I must admit that I am a little bit jealous... I loved my mission, especially now that enough time has passed to brighten the good and dull the bad. I can't wait to hear all of her adventures!
So excited for her, and can't wait to hear how things are going. It's just a little frustrating to have her so close - in the MTC - but not be able to see her. sigh.
