We're Not 'Enjoying Eden' Today

I'm so angry right now.
Our friend, Joe Orien, walked out of our house this morning to discover that some lowlife(s) had stolen the bike rack off his car. Joe had locked the rack into place, so it wasn't an easy thing to remove. I'm pretty sure that more than one person was involved, as his car wasn't damaged. It was an expensive rack; Joe is a great cyclist and uses his bikes often. He brought one down here with him, which thankfully was in the backyard behind a very heavy gate.
We believe the rack was spotted previously by someone driving by. There may even have been an earlier, unsuccessful attempt to steal it. But with directions from the internet/youtube and an especially bright light across the street (thank you, Pasadena!) they could return at night and unlock the rack.
We met Joe while he was a missionary in our ward. When he came down for a summer internship with Disney's accounting department we were lucky enough to have him stay with us. Joe works all day, and is taking an LSAT prep class on Saturday and Tuesday night. He's generally at the library studying after work. He fits right in with the family, helping with chores and playing Settlers, Boggle and Speed with us. Even Waffle likes him...we couldn't ask for a better friend/houseguest.

What type of lives do you think the thieving morons lead?

I feel like buying a really big dog. With big teeth.

sigh....

Thanks for letting me rant.

Oh thats so frustrating. My boss was telling me a couple days ago that there are so many thefts right now that they can't even prosecute them all so they are dropping the cases in exchange for DNA. I am just glad they didn't get the bike!

Ugh. That is so frustrating. I think along with the dog you should also buy a really big gun that has really big bullets.

Maybe you should start keeping the chickens in the front.
