There are all sorts of tutorials on the web. This particular video is especially good; one would be able to easily create the scarf below.
This was my first, very easy project. A simple scarf knitted from a beautiful alpaca blend yarn. So soft... and the color is actually a beautiful blue grey. If you click on the photo, you can see the yarn's color better.

The scarf turned out beautiful! You'll have to come visit us in the dead of winter next year so you have an excuse to use it! :-D
i learned to knit and crochet when i was 10 or 11, but i remember very little of it now. :( my grandma taught me some, and i think we did a little in merrie miss/activity days.
the scarf looks great, btw. i started to crochet a little something after maxwell was born. it's still unfinished in the closet downstairs. sigh.
