I found this an interesting and thoughtful article about the current state of affairs. The author reaches several decades back and brings us up to date. No crystal ball, but it will help you think and see our current predicament in a broader picture.
To paraphrase President Packer "our Christmas will be a lot leaner this year". And for me, it will also have much more gratitude.
