My little Blue Cochin, Sweet Pea, just died.
She had an impacted crop and wasn't able to eat properly, so she literally starved to death. All under my watch. Sweet Pea has always been much smaller and lighter than the other pullets. She had been eating, so it was only in the last few days I was really concerned. I was afraid of predators, like the raccoon that came into the backyard last night and stared at Elizabeth and Cleo through the sliding window.
I just didn't realize I would be the one to kill her. Life stinks sometimes.

i'm so sorry . . . what a sad thing.
It isn't your fault she died... You gave her a good life while she lived. Sometimes these things happen.
She didn't become 'sick'... her crop was impacted. Probably with babytears that grows on runners in the shade. I should have caught the problem earlier.
Don't blame yourself, Mom. I feel badly for her, but if you had realized sooner you would have done something about it. Love you.
I am so sorry but it definitely wasn't your fault.
