When the windstorm hit last month, we lost electricity for more than half the day. We were quite happy when we were suddenly back on grid at 4pm. I was already looking to round up the candles I've stashed in several places around our home.
I hit upon this recipe for making one's own candles... adding essential oils for scent and some color is a choice. Just make sure there are no little ones in the kitchen while working with the hot wax.
Be sure to store these in at room temperature or less. In a too hot garage, they could melt somewhat. And always keep a good box of matches with them!
