Last Sunday I didn't particularly want to attend church. I had a headache, I was tired, the choir was singing (of which I am a member), and I just wanted to stay home in a very quiet house all by myself.
I decided to go because I wanted to take the sacrament. Participating in the rites of the sacrament have become very important to me. And after watching this short video, I was particularly struck by the first painting. Looking closely, one can see the shadowy figure of Judas in the distant doorway, standing alone in the dark. He is no doubt leaving to commit his treacherous betrayal. Judas is aloof from all that is happening in the room. These are his friends, none more so than the Savior, who is introducing the sacred rites of the sacrament. Yet Judas leaves all for 30 pieces of silver.
That could have been me last Sunday, aloof from the Savior and the cleansing ritual of the Sacrament, all for 3 hours of being alone.
I'm glad I went to church and partook of the holy sacrament, renewed my efforts to Christ, and felt the cleansing spirit of the Holy Ghost.
