It's Official!

Elizabeth is officially 22 years of age.
I remember coming down the stairs about 9pm on the 26th, those many years ago, telling her Father that I thought we should go to the hospital. Now, after having the experience of previously having twins unexpectedly delivered at home, most men would grab the car keys and hustle their wife out the door.
Not this Father.
He was happily watching The Gods Must Be Crazy with his current children... Could I wait until it was over? he asked.
Yes, I suppose so, I replied. Why am I always so compliant at these times?
I curled into a ball in a nearby chair and waited, practicing my deep breathing, hoping we'd have no more home births. Little did I know that after actually arriving at the hospital, it would be hours more before Elizabeth arrived. After urging me to walk around the maternity ward, the nurses soon saw me running halls like the Indy 500, wildly pulling an IV behind me. Did I mention I hate IVs? However, finally Elizabeth decided the time had come to make her sweet appearance. What a beautiful baby she was. What a beautiful young woman she has become.

So Happy Birthday, Elizabeth! I love you.
