Memorial Day Weekend

We had a lot of fun this weekend... for starters, Hugh flew down Saturday bringing with him a Special Friend whom we thoroughly enjoyed. Shaelese shared a room with Cleo (best beds in the house!) and Hugh slept in the room next. The girls were careful to bring the cat into their room before carefully locking their door each night.
Sunday night I made two apples pies while Brent and the kids (Joseph and Judy were over)played games. I should have just made one, because that's all that was eaten at the picnic on Monday. *Am I losing my pie baking touch?*

Monday morning Brent was up early to make us cornmeal waffles which may be the most delicious waffles ever.

The chickens gobbled down the scraps.

Sol prepared lots of Kaluah Pig, Troy barbecued, and we had oodles of other food to eat at the picnic.
No one realized that we had fogotten our 28# watermelon I purchased specifically for the picnic.
Lisa (Eric's wife) brought their rabbit, which we had fun petting.

And NO, Cleo, we are NOT getting a rabbit to live with the chickens.

Tuesday morning came early, and Hugh and Shaelese were too soon on their way to the airport for the flight back to BYUI.

This post is depressing. I miss California. Your garden looks awesome. The picnic sounds delectable.
Please post the recipe for cornmeal waffles.

The pie was awesome, but I think the reason the pies didn't get totally eaten was because there was soooo much food there! I was actually stuffed on the Kalua pig before I could get to dessert!
