Angela posted about their Praying Matis found in their back yard. I just found this female in my pot of basil. She's nice and round, showing she's carrying a large clutch of eggs. If you look at the bottom of the photo, there's an intruder watching!
This morning I saw this skinny little male three inches below her. They've been in one spot for a few hours, but now she's turned around to face him.
His prayer consists of "please don't eat me!" "please don't eat me!" "please don't eat me!"

they just sit in the same spot for hours? Hmmm, at first I thought that Praying Mantises have pretty boring lives. Then I realized that Americans tend to stay in the same spot for hours too: in front of the TV!
Or in front of a book of juris prudence!
