Monarch #1 Has Hatched!

I brought this caterpillar into the kitchen a few weeks ago. It had finished growing and was ready to become a Monarch butterfly. Yesterday I could see the butterfly within the green skin of the chrysalis and this morning I knew it would hatch this afternoon. Of course, the blessed event happened while I was out running errands.
I've two more keeping me company in the kitchen, hanging silently in their little box. Hopefully I'll get some photos of the actual hatchings next time.

Those are so cool! Emma is getting a butterfly kit for Christmas... I think all the kids will love it!

That is so cool. How'd you get it into the box from the plant? I still need to get those seeds from you.

Judy,
This chrysalis you see is actually another one. I bring a fat caterpillar into the house, when I see it wandering around the other bushes. It's probably had enough to eat by then, and is looking for a safe spot. I'll place it in a box, with the front replaced by saran wrap. A few days later, the caterpillar attaches itself to the top of the box. :)
I'll give you more seeds during Christmas....

Ew, don't let it touch you.
